Wat ga je doen
Amsterdam UMC Research Grant Support (RGS) (About Research Grant Support Amsterdam UMC) is looking for an enthusiastic new colleague with a 'can do-mentality' to join the grant advisors/ project managers' team!

As a grant advisor you identify funding opportunities and pass them on to the relevant researchers within Amsterdam UMC. You are aware of the subsidy rules and guidelines of various subsidy providers (EU/NL). You advise and support in the preparation and submission of grant applications and in project management/post-award of large multi-disciplinary consortia. This role is a unique opportunity to develop the support structure for large scale infrastructure contributing to the overall research aims of Amsterdam UMC. As a project manager you will support the coordinator of Amsterdam UMC in the coordination of large consortium projects.

Your main tasks related to this position:
  • Identify relevant subsidy possibilities and assist them in creating funding proposals;
  • Scout opportunities, co-organise information sessions and give workshops.
  • Advise on the proposal's structure and assessment against the specific subsidy conditions contributing to the non-scientific components of a project proposal.
  • You will work closely with Project Control and with the related domains, supporting the administrative tasks when submitting a grant application and taking into account the processes within the organization.
Your main taks in project management
  • If Amsterdam UMC is the coordinator, you support the coordinator with the administrative management of the proposal and you are the point of contact for the consortium.
  • During the post-award implementation of the project, you remain the point of contact for the researcher for non-scientific matters.
  • You build a professional and sustainable project management support structure to facilitate day-to-day operations for a large consortium project.
  • You support the project management together with direct contact with the other staff members involved in Amsterdam UMC core facilities.

Requirements

We are looking for someone who has at least 3 years of experience with project management of national and European grants for innovative R&D projects in the Life Sciences with experience with research universities or other research organizations.
  • You have a hbo/university degree and you have an excellent command of the English language and the Dutch language in speech and writing.
  • Previous project management experience acquired with large national Research Infrastructure project (NWO) is an asset for this role. We are looking for someone who combines research administration of core research facilities.
  • You have a general knowledge of cost accounting in research projects.
  • You are a team player that easily collaborates with the other grant advisors, project managers, researchers, support staff and other organizations and you are able to work independently as well.
  • You are proactive, reliable, analytical, creative, flexible and able to work under deadline pressure.
  • You are capable of quickly translating complex information to an audience of non-experts, whether it is scientific, legal or administrative.
  • You take pleasure in being highly organized and in successfully implementing activities in a central but supportive role.

Conditions of employment

  • A one-year contract with the intention of extension.
  • Salary scale 11: € 4.325 to € 5.919 gross with full-time employment (depending on education and experience).

You will work at Amsterdam UMC Research Grant Support, a staff department of the Research Support service, where various organizational units work together to support researchers and create an environment in which they can excel. The grant support team consists of 2 grant advisors/project managers, 1 full time project manager, 4 consortium grant advisors, 2 personal grant advisors. The grant advisers and project managers are decisive professionals who work together on the basis of content expertise and a shared vision. The work is distributed taking into account everyone's knowledge, experience and workload. You must be fluent in Dutch and English. You are in contact with employees of the division Research Support and other divisions in relation to research core facilities.
