We are seeking a driven and devoted scientist with a focus on separation technologies/membrane technology/water treatment to join our Bioconversion team at the Wageningen Food and Biobased Research institute (WFBR). Our dedicated team works on a diverse range of projects aimed at finding sustainable solutions to global challenges.
This team is a part of the Water cluster of Wageningen University and Research.

As a member of our Separation and Purification (S&P) expertise team, you will play a key role as scientist to develop and valorize solutions and (new) technologies in the area of water treatment. This is a perfect opportunity for ambitious scientists who want to develop themselves on as scientist and project leader.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
  • coordinate and perform applied research in the field of (membrane) separation technologies. The goal is to provide innovative solutions for our internal and external stakeholders, both private and public;
  • coordinate projects in the water – food – energy domains. Gradually you will start leading the projects by yourself;
  • supporting to acquire innovative projects together with our Business Development Managers;
  • acting as a linking pin towards colleagues who are active in various domains.

You will work within our Separation and Purification team which is quickly growing. Your working sphere will cover a big variety of expertise- and project teams working on subjects in the food- as well as non-food market. The scope of our research is practical and is enhanced by the fact that we are located on the WUR campus, making it easy to connect with colleagues with a more (university) fundamental background.

Requirements

  • degree in process technology with a focus on separation technologies/membrane technology/water treatment (MSc/PhD);
  • domain knowledge and experience/affinity for water systems, and preferably also food systems, in industrial processes;
  • proficiency in the English language and Dutch, both written and orally (CEFRL level C1), with strong reporting skills;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills (networker);
  • commercial awareness with an open eye for cost elements both in own project execution as well as customer’s business models;
  • self-starter and high level of energy and initiative, with a team oriented attitude;
  • experience in project management and acquisition, preferably in a contract research organization, is a pre.

In addition to these first-rate employee benefits, you will of course receive a good salary. We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3.527,- and €5.479,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). Additionally, a contract for 0.8FTE can be discussed.
