Job description

Join our dynamic and innovative team as a researcher in the talent track to assistant or associate professor level. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about developing and implementing diagnostic, prognostic and predictive models that use longitudinal real-world data from various sources. With our strong track record in AI-based diagnostic and prognostic models, we are now expanding our focus to incorporate multiple multimodal data sources to better understand diseases and their course.

As a member of our team, you will be at the forefront of new developments in molecular analysis, measurement devices, sensors, and wearables. With the emergence of integrated and standardized electronic patient records, there is a unique opportunity to collect more frequent and complete data, sometimes even continuously. We are excited to explore the potential of these new data sources and their integration with existing methods.

We believe that by gaining better insights into health, prevention and disease processes, we can support innovations in person-centered prevention and therapy. Our vision is to develop explainable AI (transparent algorithms) and multimodal integration methods to help achieve this goal. Your activities will include developing AI-based methods for structuring, analyzing, integrating and interpreting real-world data, and using these methods in diagnosis and prognosis.

As a researcher in the talent track, you will have the opportunity to build a viable research group by acquiring independent and collaborative grants. You will also collaborate with clinical researchers within and outside Radboudumc, contributing to new initiatives around health data, such as Healthy Data. Additionally, you will play a critical role in education, contributing to the design of the new master's in Medical Data Science, training and coaching students in digital skills, and educating students in the Biomedical Sciences and Medicine curricula.

If you are passionate about using AI and machine learning to improve healthcare, and want to be part of a dynamic and innovative team, we encourage you to apply. Join us in our mission to develop cutting-edge methods that help us better understand diseases and ultimately improve patient outcomes.

Please upload a motivation letter, your curriculum vitae and the sectorplan application form that applies to your position. This form will guide you through some questions that are relevant for the selection.

Employer

Radboudumc

This position is partly funded by the resources made available by the medical sciences sector plan. With the sector plans, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) intends to make a structural contribution to the cohesion and cooperation between education and research, and to relieve stress and pressure related to science by offering more permanent contracts. In addition, the sector plans contribute to making joint and clear choices in the division of tasks and signatures of the Dutch universities.

Radboudumc fully supports these objectives and has seized this opportunity to strengthen and deepen a number of important existing strategic themes within Radboudumc. These are the themes of prevention, data-driven & Artificial Intelligence (AI), and molecular mechanisms of diseases and new treatments. These themes fit nicely on the thematic foci of the sector plan, namely prevention, data-driven innovation and the path from fundamental research to application. We hope this will not only give an impulse to the research within the Radboudumc, but also strengthen the unique position of university medical centers: in no other place is the interaction between fundamental research and the treatment of (complex) patients so clearly present, and the potential for impact on both patients and healthy people so great.

AI, e-health and medical technology as a theme within the Sectorplan
In the focus area "data-driven health: AI, e-health and medical technology," we are committed to the development and implementation of new technologies in medical practice. The sector plan allows Radboudumc, together with regional, national and international cooperation partners, to continue building a self-learning healthcare system where data about our patients and the outcome of treatments are used to improve the treatment of future patients and develop new prevention strategies.
