We are looking for an MR physicist with a good understanding of modern imaging hardware and a proven interest in neuroimaging to work on the world's first whole-body 14T MRI system. As part of the DYNAMIC team, you will play a leading role in the development and implementation of robust neuroimaging methods (functional and anatomical) for patients and healthy volunteers.

You will play a leading role in the development and implementation of techniques for the optimisation of static magnetic fields (using spherical harmonic and local shim coils), transmission of RF fields (using 16-channel parallel transmission), and motion correction. You will explore the limits of sensitivity attainable with this unique measurement system. As a Principal Investigator within this domain, you will enjoy full academic independence. You will be expected to build your own team and work in close collaboration with other teams participating in the DYNAMIC initiative. At the Donders Institute, you will play an active role encouraging, facilitating and enabling the use of the 14T system for the benefit of neuroscientists and clinicians. You will be responsible for teaching Bachelor's and Master's students up to a maximum of 0.2 FTE. In addition to having access to the 14T scanner, you will also have access to the imaging facilities of the Donders Institute, which will be particularly relevant during the development phase of the 14T system.

Ideally, you possess the following skill set:

• You hold a PhD, preferably with a specialisation in MRI, and have a background in the physical sciences.
• You have relevant previous experience, preferably with 7 Tesla or higher.
• You have a strong publication record.
• You have good communication and presentation skills.
• You have experience acquiring third-party funding.
• You have experience supervising early-stage researchers.
• You have university-level teaching experience.

It is not necessary to tick all these boxes to be considered for the position as we consider overall quality and motivation to be of primary importance. Mentoring and coaching will be offered as appropriate.

Fixed-term contract: 18 months, with the possibility of a permanent employment.

• It concerns an employment for 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
• You will be appointed as Assistant Professor (salary scale 11-12, minimum  € 3,974 maximum € 6,181) with a career track towards promotion as Associate Professor. The salary will depend on your scientific track record and experience. As a more senior candidate you may also be directly appointed as Associate Professor (salary scale 13-14, minimum € 5,506, maximum € 7,362).
• You will receive 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
• It concerns a temporary employment for 18 months, with the prospect of a permanent contract following a positive evaluation of your performance after the first 12 months.

Our internationally renowned centre currently hosts more than 100 PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers from more than 25 countries, offering a stimulating and multidisciplinary research environment. The centre is equipped with four MRI scanners (7T, 3x 3T), a 275-channel MEG system, a brain stimulation laboratory including state-of-the-art TUS equipment, several (MR-compatible) EEG systems, and high-performance computational facilities. DCCN is responsible for implementing the DYNAMIC project, which is funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
