Job description

The Department of Quantitative Economics within the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Maastricht University has leading international reputation for both education and research in econometrics, actuarial sciences, mathematical economics and operations research. We are offering two 3 year lecturer positions in the field of quantitative methods, statistics and mathematics. The main task within these positions is to teach to first and second year BSc students in economics and business, involving topics in quantitative methods, mathematics and statistics.

Requirements

Profile of the candidate:

  • A PhD in a quantitative field, or a MSc degree with several years of experience in teaching statistics and mathematics at the university level.
  • Willingness and ability to teach courses and topics in mathematics, statistics, operations research, and operations management.
  • The official language at SBE is English, therefore excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required (at least C1 level).
  • Passionate about teaching and in possession of excellent didactic skills.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract:  3 years.

The latest start date of the appointment is 1 September 2023. Starting one month earlier in order to prepare for the next academic year is preferable.

  • The position is classified as UFO profile 'Docent 4’. The salary will be based in salary scale 10 (€ 2,960 - € 4,670 gross per month based on full-time employment).
  • Working 0.8fte is negotiable.
  • In addition to the salary, we offer an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • 232 vacation hours per year for full-time employment and the possibility of expanding this slightly and additional holidays;
  • ABP pension;

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs and a relocation reimbursement.
