The Hydrology and Water Resources Research Group has expertise in the movement of surface and groundwater through the landscape and the availability of these resources to society. The group shares this expertise through education and training and collaborates in research and advisory projects across the institute and with external partners. The group is now looking for motivated candidates to contribute to these activities with a focus on groundwater hydrology.

Candidates should have a PhD in Hydrogeology/Groundwater Hydrology or a related field and a solid background and experience in applied research on groundwater related issues. Experience in groundwater data collection and data analysis is required. Educational experiences and project experiences in low- and middle-income countries and a keen interest or proven knowledge of groundwater-dependent ecosystems would be an advantage.

A fluent command of English and good communication skills are necessary. Competency in other international languages is an advantage. It is expected that candidates will have an enthusiasm for teaching in a multicultural environment, guiding MSc research, and training professionals in the application of hydrogeological concepts and models to enhance capacity in developing countries and those in transition.

• Develop, coordinate, and deliver groundwater-related teaching activities to support the Engineering and Hydrology profile in IHE MSc programmes as well as the EU GroundwatCh programme, face-to-face and online;
• Acquire research and capacity development projects;
• Co-supervise research of MSc and PhD students on topics related to groundwater;
• Develop and participate in field monitoring campaigns and fieldwork activities.

• PhD in Hydrogeology/Groundwater Hydrology or a related field and at least two years of relevant experience;
• Enthusiasm for teaching in interdisciplinary and multicultural settings;
• Evidence of applied research, project acquisition and publications in peer-reviewed literature commensurate with current professional level, and promise for continued growth in these areas;

The employment contract is for 38 hours at scale level 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (https://www.universiteitenvannederland.nl/). The appointment includes entry into the Netherlands' Civil Service Pension Fund (ABP).

The Water Resources and Ecosystems Department in IHE Delft conducts research and education activities that aim to support society in decisions and policy that sustain freshwater resources and ecosystems by balancing their protection, restoration, use, and development. We conduct research and provide post-graduate education and training to professionals in the fields of hydraulic engineering, hydrology/hydrogeology, aquatic ecosystems, while maintaining inter-disciplinary collaborations with other departments in IHE Delft and with international partners. The department is organised into three research groups: 1) Hydrology and Water Resources, 2) River Basin Development, and 3) Aquatic Ecosystems.
