Job description

SBD develops national and international partnerships between the university, industries and public entities with the objective to increase the university’s impact on society. We are looking for an experienced manager to further advance the UT’s impact development strategy and lead our team of impact developers.

As Manager Impact Development, your primary role and responsibility concerns the management and development of SBD’s Impact Development team. You also take a leading role in designing the UT strategy for R&I-driven impact propositions and development of partnerships, in particularly with the corporate world.

Your responsibility towards the Impact Development team includes:
  • Daily management and coaching of team members;
  • Coordinating the team’s projects;
  • Intake of projects and support to the development of the strategic portfolio;
  • Deployment and capacity planning;
  • Taking care of the HR aspects, e.g. personal development and annual reviews;
  • Representation of the ID team in the management team and cooperation and regular attunement between all SBD expert teams.

You are also (jointly) responsible for:
  • Development of the Impact Development vision and strategy for the University of Twente, including alignment and integration with public funding acquisition strategy;
  • Establishing the framework for sustainable national and international relationships with major industrial customers, partnerships and platforms, including the acquisition of private external financing in our research fields;
  • Providing support, advising, and guiding team members and other colleagues on consortia and expanding their network of contacts;
  • Linking strategic and operational levels, both at the customer and UT side;
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating plans with team members and business developers in the organization (e.g. annual or account plans).

Requirements

  • You are a people person, with experience in managing professionals and able to create and maintain senior-level networks and relationships with internal and external parties;
  • You are an inspiring team leader and active listener, effective in providing feedback and providing attention to individuals’ career growth, skills development, emotional well-being and mental health;
  • You are focused on the team’s success and supportive to team members in achieving results;
  • You are able to develop multi-stakeholder (inter-) national collaboration and bridge disciplines;
  • You are fluent in English (both written and spoken). Proficiency in Dutch is a bonus, though not necessary;
  • You have affinity for research, innovation and technology driven projects, including knowledge of R&I dynamics, methods and project development;
  • You have experience in creative business models, setting up or leading (inter-) national PPP research projects or programs, building sustainable partnerships and attracting funding;
  • You have a relevant network in the corporate world (academia, business);
  • You have strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills;
  • You have an academic background (at least a master’s degree or equivalent academic experience).

Conditions of employment

  • We offer a challenging a full time (38 hours) position in an inspiring multidisciplinary and international environment;
  • The successful candidate will be employed for the duration of 1 year with possibilities for a permanent contract afterwards, depending on performance and (match with) departmental goals;
  • Your gross monthly salary can vary between € 6.002,- and € 8.025,- depending on your background and relevant experience. This salary is according to scale 13 or 14 (depending on your experience) of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities;
  • A minimum of 29 holidays per year in case of full-time employment;
