Together with colleagues from the Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS) and the Leiden Digital Competence Center (LDCC), you help Leiden University to take the management and use of research data to a higher level. As a Data Management Expert, you contribute to ongoing activities, such as providing training and workshops, and you help to implement related services university-wide. You follow international developments closely and provide information to researchers and university administrators.

In this position you will:

• Provide training and advice on various themes, such as data management plans, FAIR data and data publication, both domain-specific and university-wide;
• Provide support in drawing up and reviewing data management plans and protocols;
• Handle queries and requests received by the CDS data management team;
• Act as community manager of the Leiden Data Management Network;
• Organize meetings and events for Leiden data stewards and others within the Data Management Network;
• Follow the developments in the field of data management and bring these to the attention of researchers and research support staff, for example through blogs, social media and podcasts;
• Stimulate and strengthen the collaboration between various research support staff;
• Actively participate in the university-wide research support program, by contributing to the LDCC and the Leiden Research Support;
• Ensuring knowledge exchange within the UBL in the field of FAIR data and data management;
• Participate in national and international networks in which expertise is developed in the field of data management (LCRDM, RDA, etc.).

• Academic education and affinity with an academic work environment;
• Knowledge of data management and the research process in the open science era;
• Good understanding of regulations and requirements with regard to research data;
• Experience in providing advice, information and presentations;
• You are analytical, result-oriented and flexible;
• You have excellent communication and advice-giving skills;
• Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English; for non-Dutch speakers, willingness to learn Dutch to Level B2.

You will be appointed at the Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS), a department of Leiden University Libraries (UBL). The CDS provides services related to Open Science such as Open Access publishing, FAIR data, copyright, the application of digital methods and techniques in close collaboration with faculties and other organizational units. What we offer
The appointment takes place in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement of Dutch Universities. The duration of the contract is one year with the prospect of permanent employment. The salary, depending on education and work experience, is a maximum of € 5,439 gross per month (scale 11; full-time basis). In addition, Leiden University has good employment conditions. For example, there is an end-of-year bonus (8.3%), holiday allowance (8%) and the possibility to choose tailor-made employment conditions via a selection model.
