Job description

Do you want to have a meaningful contribution to optimising education and the digital examination environment of the Wageningen University?

And would you like to work in a well-organised multidisciplinary team of experts in which trust and appreciation for each other predominate?

Then we are looking for you!

The Digital Examination team of Wageningen University and Research (WUR) has a long- history in the field of digital examination. Since 2002 the digitalization of the examination process has seen steady growth. These experiences enabled examination to continue during the Covid lockdowns. Currently about 70% of all interim exams are in a digital form and are mostly taken on student laptops with fraud prevention in place. Teachers and students are generally very positive about taking exams digitally. The team provides services around the digital examination process such as scheduling, building exams, training and advice. We have 8 team members including an assessment expert. The team is continuously working on improving the services with projects like authentic examination, remote proctored exams and automating the scheduling process.

The current product owner is leaving Team Digital Examination, so we are looking for a new product owner to work together with the team to deliver excellent services on digital examination, now and in the future.

As Product Owner you work with stakeholders inside and outside the university to identify opportunities that are of added value to WUR. This means not only having a certain technical knowledge of the examination process, but also keeping the pedagogical functionality in mind.

We expect the product owner will:
  • Create a coherent and inspiring vision on the (development of) digital examination products and services with regard to learning in an academic context. You develop this based on internal and external innovation and developments, and in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders within the context of the WUR vision, policies on education and assessment, and the WUR educational ecosystem. You are able to communicate the vision clearly and with energy to the team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Transform the product vision into a clear roadmap which is linked to a feasible budget and planning.
  • Focus on value by prioritizing the backlog and describe user stories in such a way that the “what” is clear to the team: what needs to be done.
  • Align with relevant teams within WUR, concerning opportunities, changes in policies, in budget and planning adequately to the team.
  • Align the products and services of the team with the various internal clients (users) to monitor the prioritisation, progress, quality and resources required. Where needed, you report regularly to the various stakeholders and adjust when and where necessary.
  • Work closely with the scrum master of the team, to assure that the working processes are effective and efficient and communicate these to the stakeholders in the organisation.
  • Manage the relation with external partners on a tactical and strategic level.

You will be working in a dynamic educational organisation that is constantly searching for innovative (IT) educational tools, pedagogical approaches and activities for its stakeholders and for our own performance. Hence there is ample room for personal contribution and initiative. The centre has an entrepreneurial, open and informal organisational culture.
