We are looking for a postdoc to lead cutting-edge research in assessing human exposure to pesticides and their associated health impacts.

Job description

Are you a dedicated researcher, passionate about environmental health? The Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) at Utrecht University is seeking a postdoc to lead cutting-edge research in assessing human exposure to pesticides and their associated health impacts. The position will be part of a large national program and consists of several sub-projects. Work with us on impactful projects, exploring diverse health outcomes like Parkinson's disease, cancer, asthma, and cognitive development in children. You'll work within the dynamic One Health Chemical (OHC) group of the Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, engaging in interdisciplinary research to uncover environmental health determinants.

At IRAS we collaborate internationally to improve the health of humans and their environment. IRAS is a world-leading institute in the research field of exposure assessment in the (work) environment and related health effects. We develop and apply advanced methods to further improve the research in this field. The international character of IRAS is also reflected in its employees who come from all over the world. The tasks include:
  • You help us set up the research program on pesticide exposures and health. Think about data collection, data management, verification of spatial or other types of exposure models using measurements, and the detailed planning of such studies.
  • You perform quantitative epidemiological analyses on projects related to pesticide exposures and health, for example, Parkinson’s disease, or cognitive development in children.
  • You prepare and present research findings for academic, or general audiences.
  • You lead and contribute to manuscripts for publication in the peer-reviewed literature.
  • You supervise students or team members.
  • You assist in the conception and development of future research in the field including the acquisition of funds.
