Job description

As an applied statistician, you will engage with fellow researchers, applying statistical modeling particularly in ecology, plant sciences, and animal sciences. This includes defining experimental designs, analyzing the data, and reporting the results and conclusions.

Your duties and responsibilities include:
  • Conducting intake interviews in which researchers propose their research and the statistical sub-questions therein;
  • proposing a statistical approach, and implementing and reporting it;
  • discussing the results of the statistical analysis with the client and ensuring proper information transfer;
  • playing an active role in scientific and social activities of the group as a whole.

You will, in a project-oriented environment, deal with a wide variety of cases. You eill operate independently within a team of about ten fellow consultants, which provides opportunities for discussion and collaboration. Clients are often colleagues from the WUR, but can also come from the business community. The place of employment is Wageningen.

Requirements

You have considerable statistical expertise, and experience in applying statistical modeling in "Wageningen" fields such as quantitative ecology, plant and animal sciences. You have a broad interest in science and scientific research, and appreciate the impact generated by your tangible results.

You also possess:
  • A PhD in statistics or related field;
  • relevant work experience;
  • excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • excellent knowledge of REA;
  • good command of both English and Dutch.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between € 3.088,- and € 5.737,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10/11, depending on experience). Additionally, a contract for 0,8 FTE can be discussed. You will initially receive a two-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract upon in mutual enthusiasm.
