Wageningen University & Research (WUR) has a lot of real estate (650,000 m2 GFA), especially research buildings that contain a lot of technology. Technological development is moving fast and there is a great need for further optimisation and energy savings. In addition, there are many renovations and sustainability projects, which involve a lot of measurement and control technology.

The measurement and control technology team optimises all of WUR's building installations, while ensuring comfort and energy efficiency. They also plan maintenance, timely replacement and improvements of measurement and control systems to comply with the latest technical standards.
M&R technology also includes Smart Building technology; This kind of technology is necessary to keep up with our digital times.

The M&R technology project manager is a visionary who can develop and implement policy based on a modern vision of the future, so that, for example, energy optimisation and monitoring are optimal and comfort in buildings is paramount. The installations are prepared for the future and also deliver data to make it easy for users in various other areas, such as links to calendars, apps and the like.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Developing a vision on M&R technology, in which energy optimization, ease of management and smart handling of data are paramount;
  • Setting up and implementing a management plan for the purpose of optimising the operation of the climate installations for a:
    • better returns;
    • reliable (quiet) operation;
    • Better/easier monitoring.
  • Setting up overarching measurement and control technology across the Campus, including the ATES ring, with the aim of making it work as optimally as possible, also with a view to limiting peaks in electricity demand;
  • Carrying out MJOP maintenance and replacement jobs on M&R technical installations for which you have been appointed (jobs are distributed annually);
  • Contribution to the General Technical Programme of Requirements for Control Engineering in WUR buildings.

In collaboration with the coordinator M&R technology, the M&R technical checking of technical (design) drawings of projects that are managed by fellow project managers

Requirements

You are a team player, a good planner and organizer, have strong communication skills, work meticulously and possess the following competencies: analytical, decisiveness, persuasiveness, result orientation and organizational sensitivity.

You also have:
  • A college education, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering;
  • Knowledge of M&C technology of complex building installations such as labs and hospitals. Global knowledge is sufficient, if the ambition is to develop further and you can develop a vision;
  • Technical building knowledge and extensive experience with installations, complex buildings and laboratories;
  • Experience with and knowledge of building management systems;
  • Experience in setting project objectives, definition and a schedule of requirements;
  • Experience with and knowledge of data analysis.
  • Mandatory (!) to upload your cover letter and CV in Dutch, because you must have a good command of Dutch both verbally and in writing;

This is where you'll be working
The Real Estate & Housing Department, Construction and Housing Management (BHM) section provides asset and contract management and advice and project management for building-technical work (maintenance, renovation, new construction and renovation) of the buildings of Wageningen University & Research. To this end, BHM has technical building managers on the one hand and specialists and project leaders/managers with professional knowledge (Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrics and Measurement & Control Technology), asset management and contract management on the other.

The M&R Team now consists of an M&R Technology coordinator and 4 people from our own technical department BIS. There is a lot of knowledge here. Due to the developments mentioned above, there is a need for more capacity in the field of M&R, especially in project management for energy optimisation and associated projects. We use external advisors, but the overarching vision of how we deal with M&R within WUR, as well as the direct management of projects, lies with BHM. This is the task of the intended Project Manager M&R technology.
