Join us to make exciting discoveries in heart development while developing your scientific career!

Job description

The heart is the first organ to function in the embryo, and its correct formation is vital for life. We study cardiac development in zebrafish, a powerful model organism. Thanks to its transparent embryos, fast development and genetic malleability, zebrafish offer unparalleled opportunities for high-resolution live imaging and genomic modification. Our lab has an established track record in this field, having made groundbreaking advances in understanding how the heart’s differentiation, growth and shape are controlled, using techniques such as live imaging, genetic screening, and single-cell transcriptomics.

In this project, we will investigate heart looping morphogenesis and its relationship to embryonic patterning, with a special focus on the formation of the left-right axis. Cutting-edge single-cell multiomics and 4D imaging techniques will help us unravel the genetic networks driving the asymmetric looping of the heart.
