Do you have experience with open source software development and would you like to work at the intersection of science and technology? Then this position is for you!

Your job
As a software developer at the Research and Data Management Services department, you will work on the further development of our Research Data Management system. With this system, researchers can safely deposit, share, publish and store large amounts of research data during their research projects. In our team we work partially from the office and partially from home.

This is what you like to do:
  • working as a developer in an international Scrum team
  • sharing knowledge and learning from your colleagues
  • writing automated tests to ensure the quality of your software;
  • finding solutions in a complex environment;
  • supporting technical and functional application managers;
  • working with open source software.

Requirements

With these qualities, you are the ideal candidate for this position:
  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
  • You have experience as a Python developer.
  • You have experience with software development in a Scrum team.
  • You have good English language skills.
  • Experience with Ansible, Apache, Flask, PostgreSQL, Pytest, Git and iRODS are a plus.
  • Experience with automated software deployments (CI/CD) and testing are a plus.
  • Experience with GNU/Linux (Debian/Ubuntu and RHEL) is a plus.

Conditions of employment

We offer:
  • a laptop and a mobile phone from Utrecht University;
  • an employment contract for 12 months with the prospect of a permanent employment contract;
  • a working week of 32 hours and a gross monthly salary between €3,345 and €6,148 in the case of full-time employment (salary scale 10-11 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU);
  • 8% holiday pay and 8.3% year-end bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave and flexible terms of employment based on the CAO NU.
