FASoS is looking for a head of our Office of Student Affairs (OSA) who combines knowledge and passion for educational processes with experience in leading and developing teams of professionals.

Job Description
OSA is a dynamic environment with seven teams (26 people) of professionals with diverse tasks that form the basis of our educational processes. The teams are: Admissions, Front office, Planning, Exams, Service desk Board of Examiners, International Relations Office and the Student Advisors of all our programmes. The tasks that fall under OSA relate to national legislation and Maastricht University or FASoS specific education policy that guide and shape our educational processes.

Next to leading OSA, you will be part of the Management Team of FASoS’ Faculty Office with the other clusters of the Teaching & Learning Hub, Facility Services, Marketing & Communication, ICTS, Finance and HR. Given the important function of OSA in the realization of our education, you play an important role as a bridge builder between your team, other Faculty Office departments and of course our teaching staff.

Job Tasks of the OSA Head:
  • You lead the OSA teams, inspire and motivate colleagues in their professional development
  • You ensure efficient and student-oriented organization of educational processes in line with formal legislation and regulation
  • You translate educational policies (FASoS, UM or government) into transparent and effective administrative processes for OSA
  • You act as a connecting factor within FASoS, involving different clusters, disciplines and colleagues and contribute to strategic and operational developments within the faculty
  • You present OSA (and FASoS) in relevant internal and external consultative bodies, ensuring effective and sustainable coordination of the faculty’s educational activities.

Requirements
Profile we are looking for:
  • You are an experienced and enthusiastic people manager. You know how to build trust within your team and how to support the growth of team members as autonomous professionals. You also do not shy away from being involved in projects yourself.
  • You have experience in and knowledge of the Dutch (higher) education landscape and have preferably worked in education support before. You have experience with working in complex organizational landscapes.
  • You can assess and evaluate different needs and interests of relevant partners (students, academic staff and non-academic staff) in the development and enhancement of complex operational processes in education support.
  • You are strong communicator in speech and writing (in NL and ENG) who can take various audiences along in your vision and plans.

What we offer
As Head of the Office of Student Affairs at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 12 or 13 according to UFO profile Head of Department, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €5441,00 and €7575,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0.8 - 1.0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences FASoS is a close-knit community of approximately 250 staff members and 2100 students. During breaks and before meetings, you can often find us at our favourite local coffee spot Bandito Espresso.

Communication lines within our faculty are short and colleagues are always ready to assist each other. FASoS consists of a highly international student population and a significant part of our staff comes from abroad. Our faculty offers four bachelor programs, eight masters programs, including two research master programs, that are all characterized by their interdisciplinary approach.
