Job description

We are looking for a talented scientist in the field of Soft robotics or Medical robotics for the Robotics and Mechatronics group of the University of Twente.
The project aims to use soft robotic techniques to develop MR-compatible robotic phantom to simulate respiratory motion in liver.

You will play a role in projects in the Medical Robotics Research Line. The group has been working in medical robotics for many years, and has been involved in the Technical Medicine Education track right from the start. This combination has created an internationally unique ecosystem between technical and clinical developments and innovation. You will play a coordinating role and you will scientifically contribute to many developments such as: MRI compatible robotics, robotic steering of flexible instruments and soft robotics. You will support us in writing research proposals for the acquisition of projects and you will participate in the educational activities of the group.

Requirements

We are seeking candidates that hold a PhD in robotics, soft robotics, biomedical engineering or a related field of expertise. You preferably have experience in engineering and in realizing complete systems.

As a researcher we expect you to be inventive and result oriented. You are a conceptual thinker and need excellent collaboration and communication skills. Conditions of employment

The University of Twente offers a stimulating and inspiring work environment in a large international scientific community. As a researcher, you will be offered an employment contract for the duration of 18 months or 1,5 year. In accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU) the gross monthly salary will start from € 3.111,- and will depend on experience and qualifications.
