Lecturer Physics Maastricht Science Programme.
The Maastricht Science Programme is looking for an enthusiastic lecturer in physics to join our dynamic international team to sustain our ongoing growth.

Job description

In September 2011, Maastricht University has started bachelor education in the natural sciences with the Maastricht Science Programme. Currently, the total enrolment is already more than 300 students from over 50 countries. The Maastricht Science Programme follows the tradition of the ‘Liberal Arts and Sciences’, with an emphasis on student centred learning in a small-scale college-community. At the Maastricht Science Programme, this student centred learning is characterized by the opportunity for students to build their own curriculum in the natural sciences, intensive staff-student interactions in small groups, community building, extracurricular activities and personal guidance. The programme is taught in English and is highly selective. Combined with the unique strengths of Maastricht University, such as problem based learning, an international focus and working at the edge of research and entrepreneurship in an inspiring environment, the Maastricht Science Programme offers an innovative concept of education in the natural sciences. Lectures and group meetings of the Maastricht Science Programme take place in the historic centre of Maastricht, whereas the practical parts (skills, projects, undergraduate research) of the programme are carried out in our new laboratories at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus near Geleen.

We are searching for a talented and motivated candidate with a solid background in any area of physics to join our team. The candidate should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, which is the main focus of this position. The candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching physics courses, skills and projects for bachelor students. In addition, he/she will supervise bachelor thesis students in their research. Candidates with a multidisciplinary interest and willingness to cross boundaries between scientific disciplines are especially encouraged to apply. The lecturer will also be expected to become an active part of our community, advising students, coordinating parts of our programme, organizing activities, building a scientific network for our students to explore and establishing contacts with other faculties within Maastricht, the Netherlands and across the world.
