Job description

  • To teach seminars and classes in Near Eastern archaeology in the BA2, BA3, the MA and the RMA;
  • To coordinate seminars and classes and collaborate on this with other teaching staff;
  • To supervise BA and MA theses and to act as an internship coordinator for Near Eastern internships.

Requirements

  • An experienced lecturer that has already taught a broad variety of courses to students at various levels (BA and MA), and can demonstrate excellence in teaching;
  • A PhD in Near Eastern archaeology or will obtain a PhD in the very near future;
  • You are proficient in English;
  • Able to link teaching with your own research and that of other faculty members in Leiden;
  • You are comfortable teaching both thematically and culture historically oriented classes and are willing to participate in general theory and method courses.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years.

We offer a part-time, 1-year term position with possibility of renewal for the duration of maximum 3 years based on need, funding and performance. Salary range from €2,588 to €4,757 gross per month on the basis of a full time appointment (scale 10 or 11 in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities). Salary scale depends on education and experience.
