Job description

The Communications Officer is part of the Communications Office at University College Roosevelt, but works primarily on the SIREE program. The SIREE Communications Officer implements the communication strategy as set out in the SIREE Work Plans. He/she reports to the Head of Communications of University College Roosevelt. 


Tasks include:

    • writing newsletters for internal and external communications;
    • writing press releases;
    • updating collecting and creating (multimedia) content;
    • developing and maintaining social media strategy;
    • producing promotion materials;
    • co-organizing SIREE dissemination events;
    • checking compliance with communications guideline of materials developed  by other SIREE partners;
    • advising members of the SIREE project on communications related matters.

Requirements

The ideal Communications Officer is expected to have/be:
  • (near)-native speaker of English;
  • good command of Dutch and/or French;
  • experience in the field of communications, including social media;
  • experienced and talented writer;
  • experience in, or affinity with, higher education and human rights;
  • experience in, or affinity with European projects;
  • ability and willingness to work in a small-scale, intensive environment.

Conditions of employment

This position is for 0.8 FTE preferably starting as of June 1st 2018. We offer a project based employment contract for a temporary period of time until the project ends or until June 30, 2021. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €2,465 and €3,292 (scale 8 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 % per year.We offer a pension scheme, (partly paid) parental leave and collective insurance schemes.

Project: Social Integration of Refugees through Education and Self Employment (SIREE)
The project aims to improve the social and economic integration of refugees by co-creating and introducing new demonstrations to increase the engagement of refugees in the education process and to improve the economic independence of refugees through self-employment. It will tackle the key societal challenge of social exclusion by increasing the access to education and self-employment through the methodology of co-creation. Partners include the University of Greenwich, Vives Zuid, Medway Plus, University College Roosevelt, Stad Mechelen, ADICE, Municipality Middelburg, Arhus (vzw Het Portaal) and Huis van het Leren. SIREE is an Interreg Europe project.
