Conditions of employment

The new Lecturer is invited to join Erasmus University College as soon as possible and preferably no later than 1 August 2018. Contracts will initially be running for a period of one year, with a possible extension. Contracts for a Tutor are typically set at 0.5 fte, whereas contracts for a Lecturer can range between 0.5 and 1.0 fte.

The workload for a faculty member at EUC is not evenly distributed across the academic year. Do expect a relative higher workload during the periods classes are scheduled (so-called Quads, for in total approximately 32 weeks per year) and a relative lower workload during the remaining months. Faculty members are also required to be flexible with their working days, as the scheduling by EUC of all tutorials is dominant and due to the large number of courses in the curriculum quite inflexible. Weekly work meetings for preparation, coordination and reflective purposes require your attendance as well.

The conditions of employment comply with the ‘CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU)’. Salary is subject to know-how and experience and will be within the range of salary scale 10 (from € 2,588 to € 4,084 gross per month), or – when both holding a PhD and the required relevant teaching experience – salary scale 11 (from € 3.475 to € 4.757 gross per month). Starting salaries tend to be near the lower end of the scale. The EUR has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and up to 41 annual vacation days in case of a full workweek.
