The Research centre Gastronomy in Foodservice is part of the Hotel Management School Maastricht. This research centre is led by lector Peter Klosse. He defines gastronomy as 'the science of taste and tasting' and is looking to gain information on tasting in relation to the taste of products. The primary aim is to better understand the concept of 'tasty' as the positive valuation of what we eat or drink. In this context, he is encouraging research that investigates the changes in our nutrition. The important themes in this research are nutrition and health, young people and obesity, and malnutrition amongst the elderly.
The coming years we will invest in the further development of our educational programme and our research activities. We therefore are looking for new enthusiastic colleagues who will reinforce our team as Researcher/lecturer food(service) and health(care).
You will work two days a week (0.4 FTE) as a researcher within the Zuyd research group Gastronomy in Foodservice. In collaboration with our partners in the industry and healthcare institutions, you will formulate research themes, conduct research (preferably together with students) and publish. Alongside this, you form the linking pin between this research centre and the Hotel Management study programme (0.4-0,6 FTE), and more specifically between the track Foodservice and/or the track 'Horizons in Hospitality’, in which hospitality within healthcare is an important focus area. You ensure that the results of your research are translated intothe teaching programme. You also supervise management projects and internships within (one of) these tracks that are part of the graduation phase of the study programme.
NB: In case you do not meet both the requirements ‘experience in teaching’ and ‘experience in the hospitality industry’, we still invite you to react as long as you are willing to acquire the lacking knowledge / expertise.
We welcome you in our research group and our faculty, both of which offer a challenging and innovative environment with great opportunities for you to explore.
The position is a 0.8-0,1 FTE (0.4 FTE research and 0.4- 0,6 FTE lecturer) for a period of one year at Zuyd University or via payrolling (Randstad Employability). Should the candidate prove suitable and perform favourably, then the contract may be extended, provided operating circumstances remain unchanged.
The salary scale awarded depends on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, and is set in accordance with the collective labour agreement (CAO) in the higher vocational education sector within the career prospects of scale 11 (with a minimum of € 3,392.46 and maximum € 4,661.12 gross per month when appointed full-time).
The applicable terms of employment include both 8% holiday pay and a fixed bonus equivalent to one month’s salary.
