Job description

Responsibilities for this position include conducting and publishing academic research as well as teaching, along with contributing to the service mission of the Department. Teaching responsibilities include courses and thesis supervision at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral level. During the tenure track period 50% of the position is reserved for research and 50% is dedicated to teaching activities.

The position is situated in the department of Innovation Management & Strategy which comprises six Full Professors, eight Associate Professors, and 20 Assistant Professors in addition to PhD students. We have a diverse department with more than 40% international staff and 37% female staff members. The department contributes to programmes at the (honours) bachelor, master, research master levels and to the PhD programme of the research school SOM. The department is responsible for four Master of Science tracks: Change Management, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Strategic Innovation Management, and Healthcare Management & Economics. The department covers a variety of interests and backgrounds, and embraces a number of different research approaches with a keen focus on academic quality in research and teaching. We focus on applied as well as fundamental research questions. Areas of research at the department include innovation, strategy, information systems, organization theory & entrepreneurship (see:

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 78 months.

The University of Groningen offers a salary depending on qualifications and work experience starting from a minimum of € 3,545 (salary scale 11 Dutch Universities) to a maximum of € 5,513 gross per month (salary scale 12) for a full-time position, excluding 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% end-of-year bonus and participation in a pension scheme for employees.

A fiscal facility pertaining to extraterritorial costs, the 30% facility, may be applicable if the rules of Dutch tax law permit this. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities (https://www.vsnu.nl/en_GB/cao-universiteiten.html).

Tenure track positions at FEB are temporary positions subject to a tenure decision at the end. You will be appointed initially for a period of seven years, on the condition of a positive mid-term evaluation at the end of the third year of employment. The seventh year is intended to compensate for any ‘life events’ (e.g. prolonged illness or parental leave) which might take place during the first six years. Based on a positive final evaluation in the sixth year, tenure will be granted and you will become Associate Professor. The track concerns an academic career path which leads to a position as Full Professor if criteria are met.
Formal tenure track requirements primarily include criteria with respect to research prominence, teaching, and service.
