Job description

TILT has a vacancy for a Lecturer (1.0 FTE for a fixed period for 1 year, with possible extension). We are looking for someone who can make a vital contribution to the quality of teaching and learning and support the teaching staff with several tasks closely related to TILT’s educational activities.

TILT – Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society is a top player in the field of the regulation of technology and its normative implications. We conduct research into the legal and social implications of various emerging technologies such as ICT, bio- and nanotechnology, neurotechnology and robotics. A key feature of the institute’s research program is the interaction between legal, technological, and social perspectives. TILT is consistently ranked a top institute for research and education by national and international Legal Research and Education Assessment Committees.

TILT is offering a Master Program in Law & Technology. In recent years student numbers have increased, and TILT expanded their education activities to other master programs – e.g. data science – and bachelor programs – e.g. courses in Global Law and Liberal Arts. In view of the increased workload, we are looking for a candidate who can help supervise and guide master students, give lectures on how to write a master thesis, carry out administrative duties related to education, carry out work associated with lectures and examinations, and participate in the organization of extra-curricular activities. We value the link between research and education. In this respect the Lecturer can dedicate one day a week to research, publishing (co-authored) academic papers. This day can also be used to develop a PhD-proposal.
