Job description

The group of Prof. Geert Kops currently has a vacancy for an In Vivo Research Technician.

Description:
We seek a motivated technician to manage and support in vivo experiments, and to maintain our mouse colony. Our research is focussed on the role of chromosomal instability in cancer, and is funded in part by the KWF. The work involves animal handling, and a wide range of in vivo techniques, such as ear clipping, injections, treatments, and functional measurements. It also involves genotyping and administration, and data processing. The technician will be working together with PhD students and/or Postdoctoral researchers, and will also be encouraged to manage his or her own project.

Requirements

Completed training as zoological analyst/biotechnician at Dutch MBO or HBO level or equivalent, and license of certification as biotechnician (art.13f2 or former art.12 (Wet op Dierproeven) or equivalent are needed. The candidate must have strong organizational skills, and a strong background in animal handling and maintaining an animal colony. Preferably, the candidate has experience/affinity with cancer-related in-vivo studies, and experience with a wide range of in vivo techniques. Experience with standard molecular techniques (such as PCR) is a pré.

As the candidate will interact and closely collaborate with several (international) group members, he or she is proficient in English, has strong social skills, and the ability to work in a team.

Conditions of employment

Duration:
1 year with an extension after positive evaluation.

Salary:
According to “CAO-Nederlandse Universiteiten” (CAO-NU), depending on age and experience scale 7 excluding 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. We offer an extensive package of fringe benefits.
