Job description

An innovative and dynamic scholar focused on the role of communication as a driver for change in the domains of food, health and the living environment to lead the Strategic Communication Group (0.8 - 1.0 fte) at Wageningen University & Research.

The Strategic Communication Group at Wageningen University has a strong 50-year tradition in researching and teaching critical, engaged, focused and reflexive scholarship. Within the life sciences theme of Wageningen University, the group's research and teaching focuses on communication related to food production, climate change, nature conservation, land use planning and health. As such, collaboration with social and natural scientists is a defining element of the group's work. Within these domains the group focuses on the role of communication in planned and unplanned change, taking into account dynamics at the micro level (e.g., conversations and dialogue) and macro level (e.g., public debates), through both mediated (e.g., social media) and non-mediated (e.g., expert-lay interactions) forms of communication.

As head of the group, the new chair holder is expected to further advance an innovative research and education programme at Wageningen. The chair holder will ensure the group continues to grow into a supportive working environment for a diverse group of young and established academics. The successful applicant will also further strengthen the groups profile in national and international networks, as well as effectively and constructively manage the group's internal processes.
