Job description

We offer an exciting opportunity for a young, talented and ambitious (aspiring) researcher to enhance his/her research skills in an interdisciplinary research environment. You provide assistance in diverse research projects, conduct literature reviews, analyze data, write and contribute to publications and prepare materials for submission to granting agencies.

In addition, you will gain exposure to a variety of tasks implied in the management of an innovative research institute e.g. contribute to management reporting, assist in the writing of strategic documents, collect and retrieve information to feed into strategic development planning, organize and prepare diverse meetings and publish on the website and social media.

You will be part of an international, multi-disciplinary team willing to innovate and provide support and opportunities for the development of new competencies and skills.

Requirements

You have:

  • A Master Degree in Economics, Strategy, Computer Science, Mathematics or fields with a solid foundation in statistics or analytics;
  • Highly motivated, creative and critical thinker;
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills;
  • Excellent command of English, including written English;
  • Broad interest in scientific research and in the research process;
  • Excellent research and analytical skills;
  • Solid knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods;
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Proven experience in collaborative multidisciplinary teams;
  • Willing to acquire new skills and come up with new approaches;
  • Experience with machine learning, data mining algorithms and experience with languages and programs e.g. Java, Phyton etc. is a plus;
  • Experience with or knowledge of web design and/or web development is a plus.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: one year.

We offer:

  • 36-40 hours per week; 
  • Duration of the appointment one year; 
  • Salary is competitive, and will be set in scale 10 (minumum € 2.640 and maximum € 2.897) of the collective labour agreement of the Dutch Universities depending on qualifications and work experience. On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance;
