The School of Business and Economics (SBE) of Maastricht University offers sixteen 4-year PhD positions for students with a (Research) Master degree or equivalent. Because a number of the PhD projects will be interdisciplinary, we not only invite people with a background in Business and Economics, but also people with a different background, such as in Psychology, to apply.

The PhD candidates will have the unique opportunity to carry out research within the Research Themes and Centres of Expertise within the research programme at the Graduate School of Business and Economics (GSBE) and will contribute to the development and outreach of its research. In case one does not fulfil the starting requirement yet, sometimes a part-time pre-PhD position can be offered which allows time to catch up. The last year of the PhD position is conditional and based on both the progress in the PhD track and teaching evaluations.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels for PhD students starting with a salary of € 2,266.- with a yearly growth to € 2,897.- gross a month (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

You have to be willing to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs. If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), you might be eligible for an allowance for alternative housing.Other secondary conditions include a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave.
