Job description

This project, in the interdisciplinary and rapidly developing area of social-science genetics, seeks to quantify the extent to which environments protect against the genetic risk for unhealthy behaviors and poor human-capital outcomes (e.g., education) Depending on qualifications, the postdoc will lead statistical genetic, social-science genetic, and/or econometric causal inference analyses in collaboration with scholars in the Netherlands and US. 
 
Your duties
• conduct research in the area of social-science genetics in collaboration with project members
• publish in economics, social-science, genetics and general interest peer-reviewed scientific journals
• present results of research at local and international conferences, meetings and seminars
• guide junior researchers

Requirements

• a PhD degree in economics or other social-science field or in statistical genetics
• experience with modern methods for analyzing genomic data (e.g., constructing and analyzing PGSs, GWAS, heritability studies, etc,) or else experience with causal econometric identification methods
• track record in conducting high quality scientific research
• good English language oral and written communication skills
• ability to interact successfully with researchers across a number of science disciplines

Conditions of employment

A challenging position in a socially involved organization. On a full-time basis the remuneration amounts to a minimum gross monthly salary of € 2.640.- and a maximum € 3.303.- in accordance with salary scale 10, depending on your education and experience. The job profile (Onderzoeker 4) is based on the university job ranking system and is offered for 1.0 FTE.
 
The initial employment contract will be for two years, with the possibility of extension.
