The Dean is responsible for leading the Faculty Board, which is characterized by collegial governance: together with the vice-dean and the managing director. The Dean is the linking pin - as representative of FEB - with the board of the UG. He or she is responsible for the strategy and the execution of education, research, HR, external partnerships and the overall management of FEB. Within the Faculty, the Dean maintains strong relationships with department chairs, research directors, programme directors.

Requirements

The successful candidate for this position is an inspiring and collaborative leader with a strong profile in Economics and Business. FEB is looking for a visionary scientist with experience in working in the Dutch higher education environment. Fluency in English and Dutch is essential. In case of equal qualifications, preference is given to a female candidate.

The ideal candidate has a strong international reputation in the field of Economics or Business, demonstrated by an outstanding publication record. He or she has proven effective leadership skills in an academic setting, in order to lead the faculty board, department heads and research directors to develop excellent research and education. The Dean has proven excellent communication skills to maintain contacts with staff, participative bodies, both within and beyond the faculty and the university. The new Dean has been successful in strategic planning, effective implementation and evaluation. And has a position as a Full Professor.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 48 months.

The Dean will be appointed for 4 to 5 days a week, in principle for a period of four years, possibly followed by reappointment. The Dean will be appointed to the position of permanent Professor (0.8-1.0 FTE) by the Board of the University, with the associated salary scale, and will in addition receive an administration allowance for fulfilling the role of Dean (max. 15% of scale 18).
