Job description

Are you a fast acquirer of new knowledge, a life sciences academic with a broad interest and excellent communication skills? And are you keen to work in the context of European Member States' research alignment? The Joint Programming Initiative on Food Security, Agriculture, and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) is looking for a new colleague interested in foresight analysis and valorisation, bridging research policy to programmes, and project results to users. The officer will work together with two other colleagues in Wageningen, and colleagues in Germany, Spain, Italy, UK and France, where the FACCE Coordinator is based.

FACCE-JPI is a partnership of 24 countries that are committed to construct joint research programming in areas addressing interconnecting challenges at the nexus of food systems, agricultural production and climate adaptation and mitigation. It has a strong interdisciplinary research base, encompassing economic and societal aspects with a creative approach towards alignment of national research programmes. Running since 2010, FACCE-JPI has a Strategic Research Agenda describing the scope of the JPI under five core themes. To achieve its research agenda, FACCE organised mapping and scoping activities. Through biannual Implementation Plans, the network has already launched ten joint research actions, including joint calls and innovative new alignment mechanisms such as Knowledge Hubs and Thematic Annual Programming. Some calls for research projects are co-funded by the European Commission through the ERA-NET Cofund scheme. The Secretariat has been partially financed by the EC through Coordination and Support Actions.

The officer will be responsible together with colleagues for following up on the portfolio of FACCE-JPI actions. Through supporting dissemination and valorisation, the research results and possible impact should reach different types of stakeholders, including for innovation and for policy making. Tasks include: (i) researching, developing and drafting articles and policy briefs in association with relevant researchers; (ii) preparing communication products; (iii) contribution to sustainability of the joint programming partnership; (iv) organisation of programme workshops and other meetings related to FACCE themes.

The officer will be based at Corporate Strategy and Accounts in Wageningen and work under responsibility of the Account manager Joint Programming.
