Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) has a number of vacancies for Lecturers in Finance and/or Accounting. The Lecturers will perform teaching tasks within the Finance section. You will teach courses in the fields of Finance, Financial Economics, and/or Accounting in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes of the School. You will supervise Bachelor and Master theses and other research projects by students. Teaching is in English. A part-time appointment is possible for candidates who wish to combine a teaching position at U.S.E. with a position at a different institution.

Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have a thorough knowledge and skills in teaching Finance and/or Accounting, more particularly:

  • a PhD degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting. Candidates without a PhD degree but with significant academic teaching experience and positive students evaluations, are also encouraged to apply;
  • relevant knowledge and skills with teaching in finance and/or accounting;
  • teaching experience in an international academic environment with the proven ability to inspire students from undergraduate to graduate levels, apparent from positive assessments by students and peers;
  • excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • excellent command of spoken and written English.

U.S.E. is also eager to meet with doctorates interested in a part-time teaching position, i.e., combining it with a position as a post-doc at another institution, in industry, the public sector, consultancy, or with another teaching position.

Conditions of employment

U.S.E. offers a fixed-term appointment of for up to 4 years in an international working environment. The contract can range from 0.4 – 0.7 FTE, depending on the preference of the applicant. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience  - ranges between €3,637 and €5,656 (scale 11/12 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. A favorable tax regime may apply for foreign applicants. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 % per year. We offer a pension scheme, (partly paid) parental leave, collective insurance schemes and flexible employment conditions (multiple choice model). The candidate will become a member of the section of Finance, which is involved in teaching at the Bachelor level and the Master level, in particular in our Master programmes Banking and Finance and Financial Management. Examples of courses include Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance, Fintech, Asset Pricing, Investment Management, Mergers & Acquisitions, Financial Markets and Institutions, and Financial Accounting.
