In view of their rapid expansion the cryo-EM and CSC groups are seeking a highly-qualified Technician to strengthen daily management of their joint laboratory.
The successful applicant has strong organizational skills and enjoys working in a dynamical and international environment with Master students and PhD candidates. We are looking for a candidate who is capable of maintaining oversight, likes so collaborate, has good communicative skills, and takes responsibility. The successful applicant has a strong background in molecular biology, cell culture and cell transfection and preferably has experience with the production and purification of recombinant proteins.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
The emphasis is on the organizational aspects of the lab. The candidate is encouraged to develop his or her managerial skills and this will be actively supported.
We offer a temporary position (0.8 - 1.0 FTE) for four years. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €2,579 and €4,274 (scale 8/10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) gross per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8 % and a year-end bonus of 8.3 % per year. The cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) and the Crystal and Structural Chemistry (CSC) groups study the structures and functions of proteins and their assemblies. A highly interdisciplinary team, covering biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics and computational sciences elucidates the inner workings of the cell by investigating molecules in isolated form as well as in their cellular environment. The cryo-EM and CSC groups are embedded in the Bijvoet Center for Biomolecular Research of the Department of Chemistry.
