The current project focuses on the role of the gut microbiome in response to cancer immunotherapy in collaboration with the department of Medical Oncology in the UMCG. The applicant will be responsible of the analysis of longitudinally collected dietary, microbiome and metabolomic data in relation to treatment response. You will be part of a large team of PhD students and postdocs with a similar background at the UMCG. The postdoc position is funded through a grant from the Seerave foundation (
www.seerave.org) and you will also be working together with other researchers form centers in Paris, France and London, UK also funded by the Seerave foundation
The microbiome research group of the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Department of Genetics (Prof C. Wijmenga) studies the role of the gut microbiome in both health and disease. The group has already generated and analyzed faecal whole metagenome sequence data from more then 12,500 individuals from the Netherlands. There is extensive experience in analysing multi-omics data integrating genome, microbiome, bulk and single cell RNAsequencing and other layers of data in relation to clinical outcomes.
You must have a proven track record in statistical analyzing large omics datasets and excellent skills in statistics, mathematics, and programming (Python, R ) and experience with working in a high performance computing / Linux environment.
