The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has a job opening for a Postdoctoral researcher “Working on IGNITE: Design Thinking and Making in the Arts and Sciences”.
Applicants are invited for a 15 month postdoctoral position within the project “IGNITE” (https://ignite.acdh.oeaw.ac.at/). The project is funded by European Commission, awarded to the principal investigator, Susan Schreibman.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic research team creating a 20 ECTS  module centred around the twin concepts of  Design Thinking and Maker Culture to be taught both F2F in the 2019-2020 academic year in two MA programmes (at Maastricht and Aarhus Universities) and through the online teaching platform #dariahTeach. We are looking for a talented and flexible early career researcher to be part of a distributed, international team to support the success of the project. The successful candidate will collaborate on a range of activities including:

  • taking charge of the quality review process which will involve developing, conducting, and analysing feedback instruments (eg focus groups, user evaluations, and surveys);

  • enhancing and maintaining the project website and social media presence to publicise and grow the IGNITE community;

  • supporting the PI in project management;

  • co-organizing and contributing to the successful development and delivery of events: both F2F and online (workshops, masterclasses, and a final conference);

  • co-authoring white papers and reports.

Your position of Post-doctoral Researcher (Onderzoeker 3) will consist of 100% research including activities such as project management and organising events.

The successful candidate will be expected to author/co-author articles and conference papers based on research conducted within the scope of the project.

Functie-eisen

Researchers who have a completed a PhD or who have recently submitted their thesis in humanities, social science or education, with methodological experience in one or more of the following: e-learning, digital humanities, or design thinking are invited to apply. The candidate should have interest and/or experience in multidisciplinary approaches to teaching technology-based subjects, ideally in on-line environments. The postdoctoral researcher will be based in Maastricht.

 The successful candidate should be willing to travel, be open to working with a team of interdisciplinary scholars on a collaborative project, and have excellent organisational skills. Excellent communication and writing skills in English are a prerequisite.

 

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Dienstverband voor bepaalde tijd: 15 months.

We offer a dynamic and challenging job in an internationally-oriented organisation where young people receive an advanced education and scholars conduct exciting research. The postdoctoral researcher will have the unique opportunity to carry out research within one or more of the four themes within the research programme. They will be part of an international network of top universities and renowned scholars within the field.

We offer a 1.0  FTE 15 month appointment as Researcher. The first year will be a probation period, after a positive assessment the position will be extended for the remaining time given the starting date of researcher. This grant ends 31 July 2020.

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary of about € 3,255.00 per month, scale level 10 (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%. After a positive assessment a promotion to scale 11 is possible in the 2nd year.

If you do not already live in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings) you may be eligible for an allowance for alternative housing. Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme.

You will be provided with shared office space and a PC.
