The Utrecht University School of Economics (U.S.E.) is expanding its Entrepreneurship Section. The School wants to invest in strengthening education and research with the appointment of a new Chair in International Business. The chair holder is expected to make an essential contribution to research and education in the field of international business.
In terms of research, the focus of the chair is on how national contexts affect business activity and how businesses choose to be active in different national contexts. The candidate’s profile should preferably have connections to areas such as internationalization strategy, organizational economics, economic geography, business systems, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and international HRM. Connections to other research themes at U.S.E. including future of work, sustainable finance, behavioural insights for policy making, entrepreneurship, sustainability and economic development, and to the Utrecht University Strategic Theme Institutions for Open Societies are highly appreciated. There are also opportunities to contribute to the Center for Entrepreneurship, the Utrecht University Social Entrepreneurship Initiative, the Utrecht Center for Global Challenges, and the European Center for Alternative Finance.
In terms of teaching expertise, the Chair is expected to cover the full domain of International Business. This includes courses in the academic Master’s programme International Management, such as International Strategic Management and Multinational Organizations, and in the Master’s programme Science and Business Management. Teaching is in English.

U.S.E. offers an appointment as Full Professor. The gross salary – depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €5,582 and €9,812 (scale HL2-HL1 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. We offer a pension scheme, collective insurance schemes and flexible employment conditions (multiple choice model). Favourable tax conditions may apply for non-Dutch applicants.
