Job description

Are you interested in a research position focused on immune mediated disorders? Do you want to contribute to the understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying these diseases? Then this position might be the one for you.

As a senior researcher you will work on the project TIMID. The purpose of TIMID is to gain insight into the molecular and cellular basis underlying immune mediated diseases. For this you will use operational high-dimensional analysis methods including (imaging) mass cytometry, flow cytometry, single cell RNA-sequencing combined with cellular assay, please see Li et al, Nature Immunology 2019; 20: 301–312 for further details. The supervision of (international) students and PhD students is part of your function. We expect you to present and publish your work at national and international meetings and in peer reviewed journals.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated scientist who is interested in immunology, autoimmunity and chronic inflammation. You hold a PhD in biomedical sciences or equivalent and have gained ample experience with flow cytometry and cellular research in the field of immunology. Experience with computational methods for the analysis of large datasets is considered an advantage. Our work approach is well-structured and accurate. Excellent communication and scientific writing skills, including fluency in English, are essential.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 3 years.

You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is for three years. Your salary is based on your education and experience and is a maximum of € 5.086,- gross per month (scale 11, CLA UMC).

Department

Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (IHB)

You will work in the group of Prof. Frits Koning of the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (IHB) within the framework of the TIMID consortium, a collaborate effort of several academic and industrial partners. This group has ample experience with the use of (imaging) mass cytometry for the analysis of the immune system in tissues and blood. For data analysis and visualisation a successful collaboration has been set up with computational scientists in the LUMC and TU Delft. Close collaborations with physicians is essential for the success of the TIMID project.
