The Sociology Department at Radboud University is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to strengthen its research in the domain of family sociology. The emphasis in this position will be on investigating and explaining family structures and their consequences for individuals and society at large. Possible topics include marriage and divorce, partner influences, and parent-child relationships. Relevant consequences to be studied include employment or health outcomes, relationship quality, and exchange of help and care. We invite the candidate to develop a relevant research idea in this domain.
You will be expected to:

• perform and publish top-quality research on the topic of the family;
• prepare a proposal to be submitted for funding;
• collaborate with researchers from the Sociology Department and with external scholars;
• undertake a small teaching commitment in collaboration with a staff member (0.2 or 0.3 FTE);
• be an inspiring member of our staff.

• a PhD degree in sociology, or an associated social science field (political science, educational sciences, gender studies, communication sciences). If you are close to completing your PhD, please state the defence date;
• an excellent track record in scientific research, as evidenced by publications in international academic journals;
• good social, communication and organisational skills;
• knowledge of, and familiarity with, advanced research methods and techniques;
• preferably experience in acquiring external funding;
• expertise in teaching at an academic level.

• employment: 0.8 - 1.0 FTE
• a maximum gross monthly salary of € 4,978 based on a 38-hour working week (salary scale 11)
• the salary is dependent on your level of previous education and the amount of work experience
• in addition to the salary: an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end-of-year bonus
• duration of the contract: 3 years
