Are you that enthusiastic researcher with a passion for phytopathology, arable farming and field-grown vegetables, then we are looking for you!

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and an entrepreneurial researcher who will strengthen our research into control and management of pathogens. Do you have experience with below- and aboveground pathogens? Would you like to work on the development of strategies in which biological and conventional (largely chemical) control is integrated? Do you enjoy working in research and do you want to give direction to projects from A to Z: project acquisition, project management and implementation? Do you find it important to work with colleagues from various disciplines? Do you enjoy working with partners from the crop protection sector? Then we are looking for you!
  • In the Crop Health team, 19 researchers work together with government and business partners on the combat and control of diseases, pests and weeds suitable for sustainable business systems. An important line of research is the development of integrated cultivation systems based on healthy, resilient plants, utilizing biodiversity and with precise use of biological and chemical control.
  • You write project proposals, project plans, and lead projects in the field of phytopathology.
  • You have knowledge of and experience with research into soil pathogens and aboveground pathogens.
  • You are an enthusiastic, independent researcher with good communication skills, you are quality and customer focused and stress tolerant.

Requirements

  • An ambitious researcher with an academic education and extensive experience in initiating and conducting complex research projects, with an interest in and experience in the following subjects.
  • Phytopathology and bacteriology.
  • A colleague who is able to translate fundamental knowledge into practice and vice versa.
  • A colleague who recognizes new opportunities and converts this into creative ideas and projects.
  • An independent, flexible, entrepreneurial and cohesive colleague who knows how to make others enthusiastic from a positive drive.
  • You have an affinity with working in a contract research organization.
  • You have a broad interest in arable farming and field vegetable cultivation.
  • You have an advantage if you know the sector and have a network in it.
  • You master the Dutch and English language.
  • You are in possession of a driving license B.

Conditions of employment

A challenging job for 32 to 36 hours in an (inter)national research organization, for the duration of a year with the prospect of extension. The organization has favourable and flexible terms of employment, including good education and training facilities, development opportunities and a flexible interpretation of working time. The salary is derived from scale 11/12 in accordance with the CAO WR. Classification depends on knowledge, education, competencies and relevant experience. The working location is Lelystad.
