Description of the job:

The employees of our institute are passionate about working with urban management and development internationally and they are asking for HR support to develop their careers and to help maintain their work-life balance. The management is in the middle of a change process, updating strategy, HR policies and managing ongoing business at the same time. Our team leads are challenged when it comes to HR management skills and they would benefit from an HR sparring partner when working to build their teams.

What you will do:

You will work on pragmatic solutions to the challenges faced in the work situation and facilitate teams to collaborate effectively. At IHS new career- and performance management policies have been developed recently and you will support the team leads in implementing these.

Using your expertise on HR policies and terms of employment, you will check if and how these meet organizational targets.

You will perform a liaison role in the organization, promote effective HR communication and contribute to a culture of excellence and stimulate a safe, productive and inclusive working environment.

The HR advisor will work closely together with 2 members of the IHS Secretariat (1 fte), who support in HR administration and correspondence. You will have frequent meetings with the management team and the Heads of various departments, as well as meetings with individual staff members.

Requirements

What we are asking:

You are certified HBO level educated in HRM (personeel & arbeid) with a minimum of 5 years working experience as an all-around HR advisor. Given the nature of our organisation having international orientation and cultural sensitivity is important. Working experience in a multicultural organization or experience with expat life is strongly preferred. A people oriented mind set, skilled in planning and organizing work in a structured manner, experienced in transparent organization communications processes.

  • Flexible when dealing with a diverse group of people, a variety of jobs and a dynamic set of products and services

  • Experienced in working with academic professionals in an international context.

  • Proven experience in dealing with human resource management and conflict management-/negotiation skills

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English and Dutch.

  • Expected starting date is 1 September 2019, or as soon as possible.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: for a period of 1 year with possible extension.

What we are offering:

  • Our institute is part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam Holding, where you will find a broad network and opportunities for development and social activities.

  • The position is available in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, starting for a period of 1 year, with possible extension, and is based on a minimum of 16 hours per week to a maximum of 20 hours per week.

  • Remuneration will be in line with the responsibilities of the role and depending on the work experience of the candidate. For full-time employment the minimum is € 2,709 and maximum € 4,274 based on 40 hours per week, salary scale 10 of the CAO NU.
