As of 1 August 2019, the Faculty of Law will be looking for a full-time lecturer in law (1.0 FTE).

Job description

The Faculty of Law at Maastricht University is looking for a lecturer in Law to teach in the faculty's bachelor's programmes European Law School and Dutch Law. The appointment is for a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 years. The teaching workload is 90%.

Candidates will be involved in education in various areas of law. Participation in the faculty course Basic Qualification Education (BKO), which results in a BKO certificate, is mandatory.

Candidates are asked, depending on their language skills and further qualifications, to provide both education in the English-language bachelor's programme European Law School and in the Dutch-language legal studies programme.

Candidates with a special interest in criminal law are asked to apply.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in law (LL.M. or equivalent), already obtained or to be obtained in the academic year 2018-2019;
  • A bachelor's degree (not necessarily in law);
  • Excellent study results;
  • A clear and demonstrable interest in, and preferably experience with, teaching;
  • An excellent command of the English language (in words and in writing);
  • An excellent command of the Dutch and Master's degree in Dutch law is preferred.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

The appointment as a lecturer is for a maximum period of four years. The salary depends on academic qualifications and experience. The salary is set in salary scale 10 of the CAO Dutch Universities (minimum € 2.709,- gross and maximum € 4.274,- gross).

Faculty of Law

The Maastricht Graduate School of Law offers PhD researchers and talented students research-, supervision- and education-facilities.

PhD researchers join the faculty department in the field linked to the theme of their research proposal.
