Job description

Will you take up the challenge to develop pioneering projects at TU Delft together with Dutch and European researchers, industries, start-ups and students? Are you a talented project developer? Can you ensure the successful and smooth development of innovation and/or education projects, so that they can count on the support of European and national grants? If you are a project development expert, you may be just the person we’re looking for!

Your job
You will help researchers and their existing and potential business, academic and start-up partners to develop projects and raise funds. You will do this by providing support to the entire process, from the idea to the fully fleshed-out project. TU Delft is a key partner in various major leading European consortia (the so-called Knowledge & Innovation Communities) where projects are developed and carried out with grants from the European Union and other bodies. TU Delft also partners with leading industries through X!Delft, which partnerships generate research, innovative project ideas and new initiatives. You will regularly liaise with the TU Delft employees who initiate these projects.

On a typical working day, you will initiate and facilitate the interaction between researchers and the R&D staff of various companies in order to formulate innovation and/or education projects with a high social impact. You will establish the preconditions for successful project formulation and draft and share information with potential partners, all with an eye to achieving project implementation.

You will engage potential partners in the province of Zuid Holland, the rest of the country and Europe by actively participating in their networks. You will pro-actively maintain contact with all stakeholders in order to formulate the best strategic approaches. You will give presentations and arrange and preside over workshops and meetings.

Together with the project managers and your colleagues from the NL Research Funding and EU Research Funding departments, you will ensure that the project proposals you develop are submitted and, if successful, funded.

Requirements

Your profile

You are a self-starter who does not shy from a steep learning curve. You have good communication skills (in both Dutch and English) and intercultural cooperation skills and you can quickly identify and interpret key research and project information. You are a good writer, you are creative and you can distinguish between all the various roles, tasks and positions of the actors in a project or programme development process.

You are friendly and patient when communicating with others. You can forge a team of people from a diversity of backgrounds because you understand their intrinsic motivation, you listen carefully and you focus on the content of the project. Networking comes easily to you, as does working in a team.

You are able to achieve results independently with your proactive, precise and solution-focussed approach. You can handle time pressure, including keeping a cool head in the face of major deadlines. When faced with peak workloads you have the flexibility to adjust your schedule accordingly. Further requirements:

  • At least higher professional education level, preferably in a civil engineering discipline and involving geothermal science, energy and soil science.
  • One to three years of relevant work experience with a large company or start-up, knowledge institute or university.
  • Knowledge of grant application processes would be an advantage.
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office applications such as Access.
  • Affinity with complex and dynamic working environments (e.g. a university).
  • Excellent oral and written command of Dutch and English.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: for a minimum of one and a maximum of two years.

Terms and conditions of employment

The position is for 36 hours per week (1.0 FTE), but fewer working hours is negotiable. This concerns a temporary position for a minimum of one and a maximum of two years. The salary is based on scale 11 of the collective bargaining agreement of the Dutch universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten), with a minimum gross monthly salary of € 3.637 and a maximum of € 4.978 (based on a full-time appointment). You will build up a pension through the ABP pension fund.

In addition to holiday pay in May, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% in December. You can also compile an individual package of employment conditions each year through the ‘Individual Terms and Conditions of Employment Options Scheme’, including buying and selling hours of leave.

To facilitate a healthy balance between work and private life, you can also agree on flexible working hours and working from home. You will get plenty of holidays and you have a right to some paid parental leave.

Because we have a stake in your personal development and we want you to be fit and healthy at work, we offer various career and health development incentives, including an extensive range of training opportunities, participation in the TU Delft Health Coach Programme and discounts for sports activities.
