Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC)

About the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC)

The LUMC is a center for medical innovation. The 7000 staff members work together at our ambition: improvement in patient care. We educate doctors, specialised healthcare workers and researchers to contribute to this aim.

The LUMC embraces and develops new technologies. Translational research forms the basis of our research. Results from scientific research are applied into the clinical setting of the hospital and, conversely, we take the clinical observations and questions that arise back to the laboratory.

The LUMC distinguishes itself particularly as a knowledge center for complex medical issues where no ready-made answers exist. Moreover, through the multidisciplinary approach in the LUMC, a variety of new techniques and technologies are being developed. Scientists and doctors work together to create a better understanding of diseases together with new methods of treatment.
