Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated assistant professor. For this, you will develop methods to characterize semi-solid lubricants like greases (chemistry/micro-structure/rheology), develop models for the prediction of the performance of lubricating greases and develop models and experimental techniques to analyze degradation mechanisms occurring at functional surfaces and in contacts. 
With your expertise, you will further strengthen our position in the development of advanced maintenance strategies. Your teaching will contribute to the educational programs in Mechanical Engineering on bachelor, master and doctorate level.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in Physical-Chemistry, Physics or Mechanical Engineering 
  • Your research expertise is within the field of Physics and Chemistry of Fluids, Tribology or Surfaces and Interfaces.
  • You are an excellent researcher, eager to learn and to improve; 
  • You are passionate about teaching and for developing education that cultivate student-learning;
  • You have a University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) for Dutch Universities, a similar qualification, or are willing to obtain this;
  • You flourish in a collaborative environment;
  • You are in good network with related industries and the wider research community;
  • Your communication skills in English are excellent.

Conditions of employment

You will be appointed for two years, with the prospect of a permanent position after a positive evaluation. The university offers a dynamic ecosystem with enthusiastic colleagues in which internationalization is an important part of the strategic agenda.

  • A gross salary between € 3.255 and € 5.656,- per month, depending on experience and qualifications (job profile Assistant Professor level 1 or 2);
  • A holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.3%;
  • A solid pension scheme;
  • A minimum of 29 holidays in case of fulltime employment;
  • Possibilities to save up holidays for sabbatical leave;
