Job description

As a research technician you will work closely together with one of our PhD students on the establishment and analysis of hepatocyte organoid cultures. Your daily work will include (3D) cell culture, biochemistry, molecular biology, tissue engineering, and bioreactor technology. Experience in organoid culture and whole organ engineering is preferred for a quick imbedding of the research technician. You will assist our group members during their projects and help with education activities such as workshops.

Requirements

We are looking for a research technician with a degree in biotechnology, laboratory sciences, biomedical sciences or similar; who has experience in cell culture and is able to support the members of the team including students, PhD students and postdocs during their projects.

Conditions of employment

We offer:

  • a position (1.0 FTE) for 1 year, with possibility to extend to 2 years;
  • a full-time gross salary between €.3.072,- and €4.103,- Depeding on experience. in scale 8 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO);
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.

At the Department of Clinical Sciences, you will work alongside approximately 150 veterinarians and a similar number of support staff. Approximately two-thirds of the veterinarians are specialists in various disciplines; the remaining one-third consists of interns, residents and PhD candidates. Together we are responsible for the education of veterinary students, provision of clinical services to horses and companion animals, and both clinical and more fundamental research in the areas of regenerative medicine, locomotion, genetics and reproduction.
