Job description

he researcher will work on phenomenological aspects of flavor physics, focused on B and D meson decays. This entails improving theoretical predictions of the Standard Model to explore patterns of New Physics. In particular, the goal is to enhance our understanding of CP violation/the CKM matrix in both semileptonic and nonleptonic heavy decays.

We are looking for candidates with a strong profile in both Theoretical and Experimental Particle Physics. The group in Maastricht stands on the boundary between theory and experiment and the researcher is expected to strengthen this connection. Therefore very close collaboration with the experimental community, in particular the LHCb Collaboration is required. The researcher is envisioned to join the LHCb collaboration to improve theoretical models and interpretation of the experimental results.

The postdoctoral researcher will work closely together with two PhD candidates and supervise Master and Bachelor students. On the national level, the researcher will be part of the vibrant Nikhef community of both the national LHCb group and the Theoretical Physics group.

Requirements

Applicants should have a PhD degree and are expected to have solid knowledge of theoretical particle physics. Good programming skills and experience in data analysis are required. We strongly encourage also people with a strong affinity for theoretical physics that obtained their PhD working for the LHCb, Belle or BES experiments to apply. The candidate needs to possess excellent English communication skills.
