The Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences strives to support society in tackling pressing challenges related to climate change, the energy transition, and limited resource supply. The solutions to these challenges involve complex scientific and engineering aspects, that require the combined expertise of a multidisciplinary team.
The MUDNET academic network, involving members from different faculties and departments at TU Delft, represents such a team, investigating the behaviour of clayey systems (‘mud’) from the perspective of different disciplines. One of the core tasks of MUDNET is to better understand the complex properties of clay/water systems in different settings and help stakeholders such as port operators to develop sustainable and circular solutions to their mud-related problems. MUDNET projects range from assessing the rheological properties of fluid mud in harbours to understanding the ripening of dredged material used for dike construction. MUDNET activities heavily involve physical observations and experiments in the laboratory and in the field, the outcomes of which serve as input for the team’s predictive models.
Based in Delft, you will join a strong team of Assistant and Associate Professors, teachers and PhD students in the department of Hydraulic Engineering. It’s a friendly, open, collaborative and supportive environment where everyone contributes towards meaningful group results. Geared to your experience, you will receive all the support and coaching you need to develop your academic career.
Your responsibilities as Assistant Professor will include:
