IT Traineeship; A kickstart as of February 2025!

The WUR IT Traineeship is a combination of working, learning, personal development, fun and daily challenges. You will work with different teams so that you get to know the organization well, you will discover where your talents lie so that you can carry out increasingly larger assignments.

What does the IT Traineeship entail?
You take a huge step in your career in a year and a half. You will develop both hard skills and soft skills, you will participate in challenging training courses with other enthusiastic trainees and you will obtain IT certificates. You can think of training courses such as ITIL, Digital Information Design, skills training such as Agile, personal effectiveness, time management, personal intervision, coaching and technical training such as CCNA, RHCSA, VCP and Azure Fundamentals. This is always in consultation and depends on your personal development.

Throughout the entire period, you will be guided by experienced professionals within our organization. You will not only support the day-to-day work, but you will also work on a number of innovation assignments within this traineeship. These assignments will give you a broad picture of our IT organization, you will quickly gain valuable experience and you will make contacts for the future.

In the traineeship, you will be given the time and opportunity to find out where your ambitions and interests lie and to be well prepared to move on to a permanent position in one of our IT teams. You get to know yourself to discover what you want and can do, you get to know a lot of new colleagues and you get to know the organization.

In addition to all the educational moments, there is also room for fun. Every month we organize our IT drinks, WUR organizes the WeDay (= sports day) and other fun activities.

This is where you will be working
With 200 employees, our IT department provides a modern ICT environment for education and research. We work in multidisciplinary teams on current issues in the field of digitization, self-service, security, data/application management, high performance computing and cloud strategy. We have our own data centers and work entirely in the cloud. Our Infra teams provide the necessary compute, storage and networking capacity to enable groundbreaking research and education within WUR. Highly available, stable and above all user-friendly. In the background, but also very visible. So plenty of development and career opportunities for specialists at different levels.

Requirements

  • A completed IT education (MBO4 or HBO);
  • HBO working and thinking level. If you do not have a completed HBO education, an online assessment may be part of the procedure;
  • Up to two years of relevant work experience;
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language;
  • You are focused on your own development.

Conditions of employment

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • the option to accrue additional compensation hours by working more;
  • sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • there is a strong focus on vitality and you can make use of the sports facilities available on campus for a small fee;
  • a fixed December bonus of 8,3%;

Of course, these excellent fringe benefits also come with an appropriate salary. Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive salary of a minimum of € 3.070,- to a maximum of € 3.315,- for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Wageningen Research (scale 8) In addition, an appointment of 32 hours is negotiable.

We offer you a contract for the duration of the traineeship (18 months), with the intention of converting it into a contract for an indefinite period.
