TU/e has made an impressive educational transition aimed at training future engineers, through the implementation of the Bachelor College in 2012 and the Graduate School in 2013. Developing towards 2030, TU/e has the ambition to continue to offer small-scale and personalized education, which includes
challenge-based learning (CBL) as one of the pillars for education. To realize these ambitions we rely on enthusiastic, motivated teachers who can really connect with the students and would like to have impact on their study career, and we need more of them!
Therefore, the department of Applied Physics and Science Education (APSE) is looking for a new colleague to teach in our different physics programs. In the Bachelor Applied Physics (B-AP), you will combine teaching general courses in applied physics with initiating and supervising challenge-based learning projects. In both the B-AP and the Master's Applied Physics (M-AP), you support academic staff in our B-AP and M-AP and you are eager to learn how to teach in a variety of courses, and how to innovate courses and projects to prepare students in their development as engineers for the future. This means you will take the lead of groups of students, and cooperate with colleagues, to organize and innovate classes, aligning your contributions to their needs and opportunities. You are curious, communicative and take initiative and you are comfortable with having different concurrent tasks and activities. Some experience with rotating tasks as an opportunity to learn would be great!
As a teacher you will be (co)responsible for:
- Teaching Bachelor courses of the Applied Physics program in several domains of physics such as mechanics, electromagnetism, optics, quantum physics, thermal physics, condensed matter physics and physics of transport phenomena. This includes the organization, co-design and assessment of these courses.
- Developing novel modules for teaching and assessment, e.g., using state-of-the-art educational tools including ongoing innovations related to blended learning and CBL.
- Coordinating the communication, supervision and assessment of students in their Bachelor's final project or in final projects in collaboration with TU/e Innovation Space.
- Supporting academic staff in the specialization courses of the M-AP programs, e.g. by coordinating projects, organizing and preparing course materials and/or guiding and assessing group work.
