Amsterdam UMC Research Grant Support (RGS) (About Research Grant Support Amsterdam UMC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Private Program (PPP) grant officer dedicated to fostering public and private collaborative grants between Amsterdam UMC and private parties. This role is pivotal in establishing and nurturing consortia that align with Amsterdam UMC's valorisation strategy in AI technologies in healthcare and sustainability as examples.

The successful candidate will work closely with Amsterdam UMC Research Support domains to streamline grant support services for the acquisition and the project management of public-private grants. The grant officer will play a crucial role in managing applications to national funding bodies. Additionally, the grant officer will provide support to the chair of the Amsterdam UMC Research Board during the NFU Sector Plans' reporting moments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • You support new grant applications for public and private collaborative projects submitted to: Health Holland, NWO KIC, OTP, Perspectief, ensuring alignment with Amsterdam UMC's valorisation goals. Where applicable, you work together with the other grant advisor to deliver support services for PPP grants.
  • You organise a robust internal process for PPP grant support, facilitating new grant acquisition by collaborating with the grant advisors from the RGS team, Legal Research Support, IXA, the Research BV (Services Research Support Amsterdam UMC).
  • You supervise the assessment and internal selection processes of these grants and you provide project management support for the administrative handling of project applications.
  • You monitor the progress of PPP granted projects and you perform related project management tasks to support the project leaders.
  • You serve as a liaison between Amsterdam UMC and external stakeholders, such as national funding bodies fostering relationships for future collaborations.

Requirements

  • A PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with substantial experience in public-private partnerships.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing collaborative grants within the Netherlands and Europe.
  • Strong understanding of the valorisation process and its importance in academic and healthcare settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English language.You are in contact with employees of the division Research Support and other divisions of Amsterdam UMC.
  • Experience in AI applications and their integration into public and private partnerships is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Background in business development within the industry, particularly in biotech or healthcare sectors, is highly advantageous.

Conditions of employment

  • The contract is offered for a period of 2 years and can be extended if suitability is proven and if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.
  • Classification in salary scale 11: € 4.678 tot € 6.402 gross for full-time employment (depending on education and experience).
  • In addition to a good basic salary, we offer 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Calculate your net salary here.

The grant support team consists of 3 grant advisors/project managers, 1 full time project manager, 5 consortium grant advisors for national and European programs, 2 personal grant advisors for the national talent grants and ERC. The grant advisers and project managers are decisive professionals who work together on the basis of content expertise and a shared vision.
