As a Network Engineer, are you enthusiastic about connectivity and networking in a highly innovative environment? Do you want to contribute to sustainable green solutions with high-quality technical solutions?
Your challenge
As a network engineer in the Network Services team, you will ensure reliable and future-proof connectivity on the campus in Wageningen, Lelystad and other WUR locations. You will work hands-on on the maintenance, construction and renewal of LAN and WLAN and play an important role in the daily operation.
You have a broad interest in ICT infrastructure and network development, with a focus on maintenance, construction and renewal of LAN and WLAN. As a driven network administrator with knowledge of Cisco-based Enterprise networks, you will work four days a week on the WUR campus on maintenance, ticket handling and changes. In construction and renovation, you are an important pivot in the triangle of housing, Network team and suppliers! Working from home is occasionally possible in consultation.

You are a driven team player who easily approaches a (new) situation. With a result-oriented approach and strong communication skills, you can effortlessly interact with colleagues inside and outside IT. With a passion for technology and an open attitude to innovation, you actively look for improvements. You take responsibility, show ownership and approach management activities in a structured and proactive way.

What will you do?
  • In construction/renovation projects, you act as a point of contact for project managers and installers with regard to the construction of the IT infrastructure and ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with certification requirements;
  • You will participate in network maintenance and construction at all WUR locations and will also be present at locations where necessary;
  • Together with colleagues, you take care of orders for network components and control of delivery/installation;
  • With your team, you will ensure that the current network is renewed to a new design (SDN/SDA);
  • Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for the development of network services.

Requirements

What do you bring?
  • At least completed technical MBO-4 education;
  • You are fluent in Dutch;
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in Cisco networking / Lan management;
  • Experience in managing network/data suppliers during construction projects;
  • Experience with fiber optic / UTP cabling according to standards (systimax or similar) for a certified network;
  • Knowledge of ITIL (incident and change) and standard IT ticket handling in a Service Management platform;
  • Willingness to periodically work breakdown services;
  • Willingness to obtain, or already hold, Cisco certification (CCNA);

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive salary of a minimum of € 3,316 to a maximum of € 5,273 for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement Wageningen Research (scale 10). In addition, an appointment of 0.8 FTE is negotiable. We offer you a one-year contract with the intention of converting it to an indefinite period.
